About Joanne Sasvari

Joanne is the editor of Westcoast Homes & Design, The Alchemist and Vitis magazines, and covers food, drink, travel and other topics for a variety of other publications including the Vancouver Sun, WestJet Magazine and Destination British Columbia. Certified by the Wine and Spirits Education Trust, she has a specialization in cocktails, spirits and wine, and writes about them for anyone who will pay her. 

She is also the author of the books Paprika: A Spicy Memoir from Hungary (2006), Frommer’s EasyGuide to Vancouver & Victoria (2015), The Wickaninnish Cookbook: Rustic Elegance on Nature’s Edge (2018), and Vancouver Eats (2018).

Previously, she was editor of the now-defunct FLAVOURS, Western Canada’s food and drink magazine, and was managing editor at Homemaker’s magazine. She has also held several senior editing roles at newspapers across Canada, including Weekend Post editor, National Post travel editor, and The Province Arts & Life editor, and was national president of the Travel Media Association of Canada from 2010 to 2012.
